Impact nutrition from Iceland

Converting Energy 2 Food

Converting Icelandic clean energy to impact nutrition

VAXA is a global food & climate tech company that has developed a new scientific approach for the sustainable production of microalgae with a meaningful CO2 offset impact.

We have developed a "first of its kind" project with a science-backed validated methodology that enables carbon avoidance through the nutritional replacement of beef by carbon-neutral Icelandic Ultra Spirulina.

The project applies a breakthrough technology integrated with the Icelandic clean energy ecosystem and is operated by a team of experts. It enables significant emission impacts while supporting people across the globe to achieve greater food security.
The ACTION Impact Nutrition program promotes positive environmental change while also addressing malnutrition. VAXA offers a decarbonization strategy that enables companies to achieve their net-zero goals while improving food security for those who need it most.

VAXA embraces circular economy principles

VAXA is a dedicated organization that works towards promoting positive environmental change while also addressing malnutrition.

The facility is fully integrated with the Hellisheidi geothermal power plant in Iceland.
Harnessing the plant's abundant natural resources, results in a carbon-negative production process of Icelandic Ultra Spirulina.

VAXA is committed to positive ACTION

The VAXA ACTION initiatives enable organizations to make substantial, long-term impacts on the lives of people across the globe.

With the VAXA ACTION program, you can effectively reduce your environmental footprint and support individuals suffering from malnutrition.

Using VAXA's Icelandic Ultra Spirulina as an ingredient in food fortification programs provides a holistic nutrition solution.

Understanding the impact of our food

Food production, processing, packaging, transportation, and food waste disposal are collectively known as "food systems". These systems are responsible for about one-third of greenhouse gas emissions.

To achieve a more resilient and productive planet with limited impact on our natural resources and people, it is crucial to consider the following aspects:

  • What we eat.

  • How we produce our food.

  • How we use water and land.

  • How we work with people across the globe.

Setting New Sustainability Standards

VAXA's patented technology leverages the Icelandic clean energy ecosystem in a science-backed validated methodology replacing a carbon-intensive product (Beef) with carbon-neutral Icelandic Ultra Spirulina (IUS).

The project is designed to produce GHG emission reductions of more than 100 million tonnes of CO2e in the next 15 years.

The VAXA project meets governance, emissions, and sustainability requirements with a complete audit trail, full traceability, and transparency.

The VAXA Team

Our Experts

Climate change is one of the most pressing issues our world is currently facing. VAXA has a dedicated team committed to finding innovative solutions to reduce global emissions.

To support our goal of facilitating a net-zero future, we embrace the guidance of independent experts who help to ensure the quality and integrity of the VAXA impact project.

VAXA's Energy to Food (E2F) technology supports global
impact nutrition.

VAXA ACTION Nutrition Program

200 Million children under the age of five suffer from malnutrition worldwide.

VAXA introduces "first-of-its-kind" Energy to Food (E2F) technology in which clean and renewable energy from one of the largest geothermal plants in Iceland, is converted to impact nutrition.

The ACTION nutrition program is implemented where people need it most using Icelandic Ultra Spirulina (IUS) as a key ingredient in traditional food products.

We enable communities in developing economies to achieve long-term food security through education and capacity building.

The SDGs

VAXA impact works towards meeting the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals

1. No poverty

Improved nutrition leads to greater productivity and decreased health-related costs.

2. Zero hunger

Introducing initiatives that feed malnourished people in developing countries.

3. Good health and well being

Health benefits of spirulina/IUS are well documented.

4. Quality education

The key to success is education- this is one our most important SDGs.
